The police in Osun State has started what it called a manhunt for Albert Olaposi, a 25-year-old automobile mechanic, who allegedly beheaded Mercy, his five-year-old daughter, on Monday, October 26.
The incident happened in the Oke Oje area of Gbongan, Osun State, where Mercy was said to be living with her paternal grandmother.
The victim’s parents live in another area of the town and Olaposi reportedly visited the residence of his mother and took away the girl.
Olaposi allegedly beheaded her afterwards and fled the scene when the mother raised the alarm.
People around the vicinities tried to apprehend him but escaped from being apprehended.
Yemisi Opalola, Police Public Relations Officer, said Mercy’s remains had been deposited at the mortuary at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, and she said that the police had launched a manhunt for the mechanic.
