Senator Adelere Adeyemi Oriolowo on Monday, February 8, had an interactive session with beneficiaries and trainees of the Cattle Breeding Production empowerment program he facilitated last year. Oriolowo knew fully well that youths empowerment is pivotal poverty eradication.

According to Oriolowo during the meeting with the trainees, he explicitly expressed his plans on why he facilitated the training on cattle breeding for the beneficiaries.

He told them he’s setting up Farm Estate in the three federal constituency that makes up Osun-west Senatorial district where the trainees will be breeding their cattles, engage in cocoa plantation and planting of other arable crops.

Senator Oriolowo said the initiative was borne out of his desire to ensure a sustainable empowerment program for the people, provide food security and also banish poverty and hunger among his constituents.

The Farm Estate are namely; Governor Gboyega Oyetola Farm Estate to be established in “Iwo” for Iwo federal constituency, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola Farm Estate to be established in “Gbongan” for Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade federal constituency, Chief Bisi Akande Farm Estate to be established in “Iragberi” for Ede federal constituency.

To ensure the long term goal of the project is achieved, three Agricultural Cooperative societies were formed, one for each federal constituency with the membership of the cooperative society consisting of the trainees and certain percentage of the host community where the farm estate are being established.

He promised to ensure World Bank support the initiative as he has already secured their commitment for the project.

“The project take-off has Sixty (60) beneficiaries for a start who were selected from the ten local government that makes up Osun-west Senatorial district and there are plans to accommodate more people into the system as event takes shape”, he said.
