Lagos NUJ mourns Sadiq Daba

In a statement jointly signed by Adeleye Ajayi, Chairman, NUJ Lagos State Council and Tunde Olalere, Secretary stated that NUJ, Lagos State Council were deeply sad about the death of Sadiq Daba, popularly known in several homes as 'Bitrus' of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) soap opera—Cock Crow at Dawn of the 70s and 80s. Daba brought joy to many families courtesy of the popular TV programme.

The entire journalists of the Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), mourns the veteran broadcaster and ace actor, Sadiq Daba.

In a statement jointly signed by Adeleye Ajayi, Chairman, NUJ Lagos State Council and Tunde Olalere, Secretary stated that NUJ, Lagos State Council were deeply sad about the death of Sadiq Daba, popularly known in several homes as ‘Bitrus’ of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) soap opera—Cock Crow at Dawn of the 70s and 80s. Daba brought joy to many families courtesy of the popular TV programme.

He also proved his mettle in Nigeria film industry (Nollywood).

Sadiq Daba fought a battle with leukemia and prostate cancer until he passed on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021.

He is undisputably a role model in both broadcast and the film industries.

The council suggests that the Federal Government should immortalise Sadiq Daba in view of the brilliant roles he played in his areas of specialisation while alive.

In addition, Sadiq Daba positively affected the lives of many Nigerians.

His legacies will last forever. May his soul rest in peace.
