The Bayelsa State Police Command, on Sunday, arrested three suspected armed robbers.
A statement by the spokesman for the command, Mr Asinim Butswat, said the suspects were apprehended in Ogbia, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state with the support of a vigilante group.
Butswat gave the suspects’ identities as Michael Isaiah, 24; Victor Lambert, 19; and Prince Sam, 18.
He said, “The suspects were arrested at the Oloibiri junction, Ogbia town. One locally-made single-barrelled gun, one machete, one Qlink motorcycle, two wristwatches and three phones were recovered from the suspects.
“The suspects confessed that they were about to carry out an operation in Ogbia town.”
Butswat added that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
The statement lauded the synergy between the police and vigilante groups in the state, noting that it had paid off in the arrest of the suspects.
It also quoted the Commissioner of Police, Michael Okoli, as reiterating his warning to criminals in the state to “turn a new leaf, relocate out of the state or face the consequences.”
